Jaguar created a smaller version of its predecessor the XJ6. While it wasn’t just designed to be a fast road racer, it’s also is a great car to have for tour racing. It has high gear, durable petrol tanks, and has powerful assistant steering.
The Jaguar XJ13 has been in production for over 20 years. This has been the longest run in Jaguar’s history and became apart of the company’s financial success. With its 24 valve engine, the car has offered what all car lovers wanted: an open topped and well-constructed JX13.
Before we go onto the review, we want to give a brief history behind this the legendary Jaguar XJ13. During its development stage, the car’s V12 engine was produced by Claude Bailey during the XJ6 Project. This car delivers 503 horsepower because of its mechanical injection.
When the car was released to the public in 1971, it was used and tested on the MIRA track with the purpose of making a promotional film. Sadly, the car crashed on accident when it started reaching 140 MPH. The vehicle lost a wheel that the famous driver Norman Dewis was in.
Fortunately, the car and Dewis survived. It was re-engineered and created two years later instead of other cars that had failed during this era. Dewis stated:
“The car was working fine and smoothly in the first 3 laps at normal speeds for the filming. I was asked to drive for four laps and one the third lap” he continued “I reached the banking, and I was driving at 135 miles per hour started to speed at full throttle.
But, the car lurched towards the right and was close to hitting the safety fence.”
It’s rebuild was finished in June 1973, and they placed the previous engine with a welded/burnt piston. This means that the car was able to drive faster but not be able to reach its full potential as the earlier device.
In addition, the Jaguar X13 was shown in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2007. This was where it was seen in the public eye in 35 years. Now, the car is still respected and is viewed as one of the most iconic cars in Jaguar’s lineup.

Its gas consumption is 17.4 MPH, which means you might have to fill it with gas frequently. With its, quick acceleration, this vehicle goes from 0 to 60 within 3.4 seconds. Because of this, the car had gained its recognition worldwide due to its high-quality performance and Jaguar’s finest engineering.
However, some drivers felt uncomfortable when sitting in the car seats. But, it has torque that’s about 382 ft/lbs. This means that the car is fast at accelerating and can make quick turns when needed. Overall, it’s a car that has enough utility to last for more than 15 years.
