Luxury vehicle brands have been around since the creation of automobiles in the late 1800s. However, there are none quite as exquisite as Jaguar. Started in 1922, the Shallow Sidecar Company in Britain took its first leap of faith outside the sidecar production line to create its first passenger car called Jaguar. As manufacturing took off, Shallow Sidecar Company became Jaguar Cars in 1945. Through a few more changes in name and owners over the decades, the Jaguar we know today was finally listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1984.
In its adolescence, Jaguar was joined by Land Rover under the ownership of Ford. Finally, in 2013, Jaguar Land Rover Limited was purchased by Indian company Tata Motors whom it is still successfully owned by today. The changing of hands over a century led to an exquisite evolution of Jaguar cars which is owed to the touch and impact of each owner along the way. The models we enjoy today are a result of the journey Jaguar has traveled to become the luxury vehicle brand we know and love.
